I was visiting in The Commons for Blogging 101 and read a post by lucile de godoy on a new event over at Silver Threading entitled Writer’s Quote Wednesday. The rules are simple, post a quote attributed to a writer, link it to the weekly prompt on Silver Threading, and comment, like or share the entries of other bloggers.
So, for my first entry I chose a quote by author Anne Lamott
Almost all good writing begins with terrible first efforts. You need to start somewhere.”
― Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life
As I glance around my desk and office, the scattered first drafts of posts already written are evidence to me that we indeed all do have to start somewhere. I often times cut pieces of writing apart with scissors and tape them back together as I edit either virtually on my laptop or on legal pads with pen and tape in hand.
And like any writer, honing his or her craft, I hope that what I end up with is a piece of good writing.
