If you and I were having coffee right now … I would thank you for meeting me at Starbucks and apologize for missing our coffee last weekend. Intermittent Wi-Fi service at home has been interfering with my posting schedule.
Sometimes, I just cannot make it out to a coffee shop to use their Wi-Fi and when I’ve managed to get Wi-Fi either at home or out I’ve had to focus on a community service project I’ve been working on that will be finished on Wednesday. A networking group I belong to has “adopted” a small shelter for homeless women and children for Christmas. Wednesday we get together to wrap all the presents we have bought and received for the families residing in the shelter. It is always fun to play Santa Claus and when combined with dinner, wine and networking it is a win-win.
If you and I were having coffee right now … I would apologize for my delay in replying to comments you have kindly left on my posts or for liking your posts. I would also explain that my internet woes have also made it difficult to publish posts for Follow Friday or Saturday Shares. Hopefully, I can manage both soon.
If you and I were having coffee right now … I would ask how you were and how Thanksgiving was (assuming you are in the United States) and how your week and weekend went.
If you and I were having coffee right now … I would tell you that my Thanksgiving was just as I wanted – time spent with loved ones, enjoying each other’s company and our holiday meal. We did not participate in any Black Friday or weekend shopping. I hate the way retailers have taken over the holiday and I believe if we don’t rush out to the stores to spend, the retailers will eventually get the message and not force their employees to work before midnight on Thanksgiving.
If you and I were having coffee right now … I would tell you how although things haven’t slowed down, I did manage to spend some time organizing my house. So today, I am less of a hot mess than I was a few weeks ago. I still have lots of work to do and a long way to go before I am at least living in organized chaos. For some reason that makes me think of Robert Frost’s “But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep.”
If you and I were having coffee right now … I would tell you how I should be home baking up a storm. I am planning on baking Christmas presents of cookies and maybe breads for the fellow members of my local Salvation Army advisory board. Our December meeting is Tuesday and there are eight people to bake for. I will be in the kitchen all day tomorrow.
If you and I were having coffee right now … I would tell you how I treated myself this week and bought several Pyrex pie dishes and a KitchenAid hand mixer. I covet a KitchenAid stand mixer to the point that I’ve been known to hug one in the store and tell it that someday I would be back to take it home with me. I definitely would get use out of it; so for now I’ve at least upgraded my cheap hand mixer to a more powerful one. And, as a bonus for this country of origin label checker all my purchases were made in the U.S.A.; I know some people don’t care about that but I do. I must admit I was tempted to buy the prettier Pioneer Woman pie dish but was very disappointed to find out it wasn’t made in Oklahoma or in some other Midwestern state but in China. I firmly believe that it is better for the environment to buy products made closer to home whether home is in the US, England, Italy or China. And it is better for your local economy as well.
If you and I were having coffee right now … I would lament how I hadn’t eaten a bite of the four apple pies I baked during Thanksgiving week including the two I baked on Thanksgiving morning. Perhaps that is why I’m more prone to cookie baking, I can always sample the offerings before giving a batch to others.
If you and I were having coffee right now … I would tell you that this post is part of the Weekend Coffee Share at Part Time Monster
Well, I should get going, Before you leave, please tell me in the comments what you would share with me …
