#WeekendCoffeeShare – December 13, 2015

coffee share

If you and I were having coffee right now … I would ask you how your week was and thank you for meeting me during a Patriots football game.

IMG_9113If you and I were having coffee right now … I would tell you how busy this week had been – and all with a focus on Christmas. Budget Buddies has no formal sessions for December but we gathered for a Christmas dinner on Tuesday night. And that followed a Christmas luncheon for The Salvation Army advisory board at noon. Wednesday night I went into Boston for my networking group’s wrapping party of all the Christmas presents we purchased for the residents of a small family shelter.

If you and I were having coffee right now … I would tell you that I was excited for basketball season.  My niece Gianna made the freshman basketball team at her high school and her sister Jenny is on the sixth grade youth travel team.  Jenny’s team played a nail biter of a game Thursday night losing by one point in double over time.  Quite the competitive game.

IMG_3171If you and I were having coffee right now … I would tell you how unseasonably mild it has been lately.  The temperature has been hitting the 50s nearly 60 in the last few days.  The temperature made it easier to say yes to taking a shift ringing the bell for the Salvation Army red kettle collection on Saturday.  My niece Kendra and I stood outside our local Stop & Shop ringing the bell, handing out candy canes and wishing people a Merry Christmas.  The combination of candy canes and a smiling child ringing the bell helped fill our kettle with donations.

If you and I were having coffee right now … I would tell you that in spite of all my Christmas related activity I am having a hard time feeling the season this year.  My nieces commented that I hadn’t decorated yet.  Usually, I decorate this past weekend so I am a few days behind.  I had the same issue last year, only putting my tree up the day before Christmas Eve when my family was heading over for our Christmas Eve dinner.  Hopefully, I do better this year and my house is decorated this week.

If you and I were having coffee right now … I would tell you how I can’t help but think about the children and families of Sandy Hook today on the eve of the anniversary of the killing of twenty children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School three years ago.

If you and I were having coffee right now … I would ask you to perform at least one random act of kindness in memory of the lives lost that day in Newtown, CT.  I would ask you to tell me about it in the comments  section of this post.

If you and I were having coffee right now … I would tell you that this post is part of the Weekend Coffee Share at Part Time Monster

Well, I should get going,  Before you leave, please tell me in the comments what you would share with me  …

If you and I were having coffee right now …

  1. I’m not sure if this qualifies as random, really, but I just got home from spending 3 hours in the ER with my best friend getting her sprained ankle x-rayed to make sure it wasn’t fractured, despite the fact that it’s my husband’s birthday and we had plans. Sometimes you just gotta be a friend. So it’s not a totally random thing, but I think sometimes just being a friend is the biggest kindness. We got so few real ones in our lives.

Good luck with the Christmas decorating. If we were having coffee together, I’d help you get that Christmas tree up. 🙂

    • I agree, we do have so few real friends particularly in this day of calling people friends on social media. So it is important to be there for our real ones. Kindness random or not is a good thing to celebrate. Hope your friend is well and your husband enjoys his birthday in spite of altered plans.
Christmas tree will go up this week – fingers crossed.

  2. LOL My best friend and I are both rather clumsy. I think that’s one of the reasons we became friends – we don’t think it’s strange that we trip, slip and sometimes fall on our behinds.
